February 29, 2000
Dear
Friends and Family,
It has probably been a while since I
have seen many of you, as my time has been entirely devoted to the life of a
first year college student (at Point Loma Nazarene
University). It has, thus far, been an extraordinary experience.
God has provided beyond belief and I am learning so much about Him and
what a true relationship with Him consists of.
The atmosphere here is not bad either, with a short walk to the ocean and
downtown San Diego right next door. I
am about forty-five minutes away from home, which is a nice distance.
It is close enough to go home every once in a while and for my parents to
come visit, but a little too far away to stop by the house to get a load of
laundry done. My major is declared
as Business Administration, but we will see if God guides me in a different
direction later.
As
many of you know, both of my sisters have gone on mission’s trips on the other
side of the world in the past. It
was somewhat expected for me to follow in their footsteps, but God had never put
that desire upon my heart until just recently.
He has helped me to realize the importance of serving Him, and I now have
the opportunity to go to Papua New Guinea
with a group of students from my school from May 15-
June 5.
In the Highlands of Papua New Guinea we will be doing construction work
building houses for the hospital staff. I
am excited about the opportunity to help others there and grow not only in my
knowledge of the other side of world, but also in my relationship with Christ.
One favor I ask of you is to pray
for our group as we prepare and leave for our trip.
Pray that God will prepare each of our hearts for this experience and
give us confidence knowing that He will be our guide.
Please pray also for our team, that we would get along well and work
together for one purpose, to serve our Creator.
Also pray the people that we come into contact with, that our group would
be a true witness to them. Lastly,
pray for the safety
of this trip, as we are traveling a long way.
In order to go on this trip, each student must raise $2,300. It is a lot of money to promise, but I am confident that God is in control, and that He will help me in raising this support. If you could possibly support this ministry through me financially as well as in prayer, it would be a great help. I realize that you cannot all do this, but if God leads you, I appreciate any donations you can make.
Thank you for your prayers and I am excited to see how God works on this trip. I look forward to updating you on my adventures.
In
Him,
Kevin

P.S. For those who can support me financially: If you would like to receive tax credit, this mission trip is a legitimate non-profit tax deductible project. Please make checks payable to PLNU and do not put my name on the check but include a note saying that it is for me. If you have any questions, feel free to call me.
