Dear Family,

Word has spread about our move to North Carolina! We are VERY excited about the Lord's leading us there. Many of you know this is where Jamie's family lives. Marsha, Jennifer and Robin are anxiously anticipating our arrival! Several months ago we decided that the timing was right for us to move in August (Yes, this month:) We will hit the Interstate 40 on August 26th and stay on that baby for 2,700 miles.

We bought a KB home (currently being built) in Holly Springs, NC - which is in the Southwest region of Raleigh. Our home should be finished sometime in November and December, so we may be in by Christmas :)

Our lot is at the end of the community and is edged by woods - which we cannot wait to explore. We will be located about 2 hours from the beach and 3 hours from the Smokey Mountans. :)

We love you all, and in the midst of our excitement, we are very sad to leave the "Kemp Community":) We thank God for the time we were able to live so near to you all. Please come visit!

MAP of the 2,528 mile journey

Hi Family,

Just wanted you to know I made it back safely from North Carolina after just missing the affects of the hurricane.  We only had rain in Memphis and again in Blowing Rock, NC.  Even then it was a downpour for a few minutes then went away.  Thankfully, we even had decent gas prices vs. traveling this weekend.  We felt God’s protection in so many ways.  It was actually fun to make this trip through country I had never visited before. From “Owlbuquerque” (a restaurant with much local color and story we will always remember) to Oklahoma City where we made a wrong turn and ended up by the State Fair grounds, for those of you who love the old movie

Oklahoma, to Little Rock, AK where we didn’t take the time to see the Clinton library, to Memphis where we did visit Elvis’s Graceland and then experience downtown on Beale St. and ate at an old Barbecue place, I think the name was the Blue’s Café or something like that, through Nashville to Ashville, NC, home of the Biltmore also an Appalachian craft mall, to Blowing Rock where Jan Karon’s Mitford Series books were patterned after, and then on to C & J’s new home, Holly Springs next to Apex and Carey.

The church Jamie’s family attends helped us unload the truck in about 45 min. vs. the days it took to load it up.  They were wonderful welcoming people and even have a large storage room at the church where their stuff can be kept until they move into their brand new home probably around Thanksgiving.  I did get to see the home Jamie’s mom and sisters have purchased in the same development as Candy and Jamie’s.  Their home is finished and they move into it next weekend.  The kids will stay there until the move into the new house.  It is a very nice new neighborhood and the house backs up to a wooded area.  Candy is so excited about being able to do her own decorating and have plenty of room for everything including the piano we passed on to them.

They are hoping to have many California and Wisconsin visitors, once they move into their place.  I have to say it is a beautiful place and lots of fun places to go from there.

Much love to you all,

Carolyn
