Hello One and All, Most of you already know the news of our engagement, but not all of the details and no one has seen a picture...skip through as you wish. So thanks to Uncle Ken for a kick in the pants for some motivation and Mel for some technological support! I'm using the questions i received from Uncle Ken in an e-mail as helps:)
How about writing a little introduction for the family and sending me a photo?
1. Stuff like… who IS this guy? Dennis Joseph Butteris
2. Where did you meet? Well....he claims we met about 4 years ago when he came to Chicago with Ed and Mel and I met them at a coffee shop, but i can't remember it for the life of me:) We had met several times though when i would visit ed and mel before i moved to janesville...he is good friends with them through church.
3. What was the attraction? His involvement with family and church initially, many more as we got to know each other
4. When did you sense that this is SERIOUS? Neither one of us wanted to casually date for the heck of it. After we started dating it was a hard process for me at first. To make a long story short i have known for awhile that long-term missions was not something i would be doing in the near future, but it was hard to give that up and not force it into my life. I was dealing with this before Dennis and i started dating but it really became a reality once we did. So, it's not like i had to choose between one or the other, it was more a matter of finally accepting how God was leading me at this time. Both of us are involved with missions at church...so who knows what lies ahead?
5. Did Dennis talk to your dad? Dennis and I went to my parents house for a weekend. Dennis and dad went to the woods to get a load of wood, he made sure not to ask during hunting season. But actually he waited until they got back and were stacking it to pop the question.

did know...it was funny cause grandpa H. was making comments about them
being in the woods together, and how he probably wouldn't do it there
cause he might have to walk home:) but i couldn't say anything
(If no, WHY NOT?? Dennis is so great what can i say?)
7. How did it go? i'm engaged!
8. Did Randy work him over? he just told him he figured that was coming soon. He said he was delighted.
9. Where were you engaged? On the banks of the Rock River in Janesville, WI in the middle of a Thunderstorm. We were headed back the same weekend after he asked my dad. Since i knew he had asked i thought he was going to wait awhile to ask me so i was quite surprised. It was romantic
10. Have you got future plans… like, where are you going to live? Dennis owns the current but soon-to-be former bachelor pad.
11. Any career pursuits? Dennis just started a great job with a window washing company in Madison. I am working with adults with developmental disabilities at a day program. I am hoping to get certified as a nursing assistant, obtain a job with hospice and continue gettin' edercated to be a R.N. but we'll see what the future holds?
12. What about Dennis’ family? He is the third of three children one older brother (with a son) and one older sister (married with 3 boys).
13. Where do they live? His mom, brother and sister live in Richland Center, his dad lives in dodgeville Where did Dennis grow up? mostly on farms in Richland County 30 mins. from where i lived! Go to school? Kickapoo, or as i like to call it Hickapoo...yes i'm marrying a redneck:)
14. Play sports? football
15. Hobbies? this is one of the things that attracted us to each other. we both love being outdoors and being active...sports, fishing,hunting(dennis only), a wide variety of things
16. Quirks? he likes chunky peanut butter and i like creamy, he squeezes the toothpaste wrong and i don't:) he squeezes it all the way to the end and i just squeeze and run.
